Brazilian DJ and producer Zerb recently released the official music video for his hit song ‘Mwaki’, featuring Kenyan vocalist Sofiya Nzau. Directed by Mikhail Mehra, known for his work on Major Lazer’s ‘Lean On’, the video captures the vibrant culture of Kenya and showcases Zerb’s musical talent.
Reflecting on the production process, director Mikhail Mehra shares, “During our shoot, we faced unexpected challenges, like hippos breaking through the location. Our Masai tribe liaison, Sammy, guided us to safety by showing us a rope to climb out of the gorge. These were extraordinary moments that I never anticipated. Despite the difficulties, our dedicated team came together and accomplished the impossible. I believe we have done justice to Kenya, and this experience will always hold a special place in my heart.”
Zerb’s collaborations have earned him recognition from dance music icons Diplo and Tiësto. Armin van Buuren has also praised ‘Mwaki’ as the “dance track of the week.”
When asked about the track, Zerb expresses his excitement, saying, “I always knew that ‘Mwaki’ was something extraordinary, but I never expected the overwhelming success and love it has received. I am truly grateful for the opportunity to share my music with the world and immensely proud of the outcome. The fact that ‘Mwaki’ has resonated globally is a testament to the universal language of music.”
