Dirtybird is one of the foremost labels in all of house music. Known for its big rambunctious sound, it kicks out the jams at a high rate and now puts out a beefy compilation that showcases their latest waves of talents.
Entitled The New Year’s Special it is a second such instalment that really makes your rump rumble across 10 tracks. First out of the blocks is the in your face smasher ‘La Bomba’ by Ciszak, which barrels along with big meaty drums as turbo charged synths slash about in the mix. The talented Walker and Royce then keep things down and low and sleazy with ‘Hit Dem Draws’, which is wonky and off kilter and really gets under your skin.
The likes of 6ftShort and Dateless then keep up the unhinged vibes with some trippy tones and weird sine waves that are sure to really inject some fire into any dance floor. Sirus Hood then links with Roland Clark for the dirty and attitude laced ‘I’m Home’, which has a real sense of gangster to it.
For something even more wicked out and inspired by druggy cloud rap, check ‘Turn On You’ by Sage Armstrong. It’s spaced out and has rapped vocals and makes for a nice late night vibe.
Egopool’s ‘Quartz’ is a more heads down and stripped back groover for the dead of night or for cosy back room parties then Slow Jam from This rounds things about in a freaky and loopy fashion with alien vocals and great sound designs all burrowing deep on your brain. All in all then this is another unmissable compilation from DirtyBird.
