Underworld, the British electronic duo, just announced ‘Strawberry Hotel’, their eleventh studio album. Releasing October 25th via Virgin Music/Smith Hyde Productions, it’s their first full-length since the innovative 2019 ‘Drift’ project. The announcement coincides with the release of the lead single ‘Black Poppies’, described as “a celestial love song.”
While details about the album’s overall sound remain shrouded in mystery, Hyde and Smith have made one intriguing request to their audience: “Please don’t shuffle.” This cryptic instruction suggests that ‘Strawberry Hotel’ may be designed as a cohesive listening experience, with each track carefully placed to create a specific narrative or emotional arc.
The 15-track album will include previously released singles ‘and the colour red’ and ‘denver luna’, both premiered live in Bristol.
Underworld’s new album announcement follows their UK and European tour. The band played sold-out shows at Amsterdam’s Gashouder venue and toured through several countries, building excitement for the upcoming release.
