Tommy Farrow shares his top 10 balearic sunrise tracks

Born in Essex, living in his much-loved hometown of Sheffield – Tommy Farrow is shining as one of dance music’s brightest rising stars. After releasing one of the strongest debut two-track EP’s that 2020 has seen in the world of electronic music, Tommy’s artistry has received outstanding praise from many of dance music’s hottest tastemakers.

In May, Tommy Farrow impressed with a hedonistic trance anthem, ‘Between Two Planets’ via Stress Records. 90s rave nostalgia blended with fresh dance floor inspiration is the formula for this track; euphoric piano lines, progressive strings, and ethereal vocals work in harmony to create goosebumps-induced peak-time moments.

To celebrate the release, Tommy Farrow shares with us his top 10 Balearic sunrise tracks.

1. &ME – 1995

“Straight in with &ME – 1995! Every time I listen to this track I picture myself playing it at an open space venue in Ibiza, the sun glistening over at 5 in the morning and everybody’s hands in the air. The melody is so uplifting accompanied with lush breaks and euphoric vocals”.

2. Jahaan Shah – More (Sixth Ocean Remix)

“A stunning remix from Sixth Ocean with his signature menacing bassline backed with dreamy pads and the most incredible vocals. I would shed a tear if I heard this breakdown live!”.

3. Rihanna – Love On The Brain (RY X Remix)

“I first heard this track on the identification of music’s Facebook page. The video was at Burning Man in the early hours of the morning and it’s exactly what this track is made for. Rihanna’s vocals sat on top of that sustained bassline and scattered high hats is perfection!”

4. Lastlings – Deja Vu (Luke Alessi Remix)

“Don’t get me started on these vocals! I’m in love with the vocals that repeat over and over “I keep going” throughout the track. The synths in this record are so clean, evil but beautiful at the same time!”.

5. Emanuel Satie ft MAMA – Rivers

“Love the vibe with this track. The tribal – style drums are wicked and I’m a huge fan of the steel drum synth on the breakdown. Again, the vocals complete this track for me!”.

6. Henry Krinke – Stay

“Heaven on earth this song. This brings me so much nostalgia from secondary school because I used to do my maths homework while listening to this record, and I remember being just so peaceful and clueless about the world. The Alicia Keys vocal sample is stunning…”

7. Dusky – Static

“This is an absolute gem – Such a beautiful vibe. In my opinion one of the most underrated tracks about! This is Bicep – Glue level and it’s perfect to finish your set with! That Bassline!”

8. Jody Wisternoff – The Bridge (Chicane Rework)

“I remember in the summer going for a nighttime drive and this song came on a Spotify playlist. I was filled with a sense of joy as I rode along in the dark, the sound of the river complementing this perfectly. This sound is so incredible and uplifting! I love how the vocals and the strings have the same melody and work perfectly together”.

9. The Roc Project feat. Tina Arena – Never (Filterheadz Remix)

“I first heard this track in Ibiza. My flatmate showed me it at the time (he’s in his 30’s) and was telling me about how this track used to explode at Bora Bora beach with the sun rising. Damn, I wish I was old enough to witness what it was like back then!!”

10. Mathame – Magia (ft Franchino)

“This track is pure magic. Anything Mathame releases is a true masterpiece, they create so much emotion with their chords”.
