Soul Ex Machina proudly presents the second EP coming out on the label, Hungarian-based St.Iff! István Herédi aka St.Iff has been making waves in the drum & bass scene since 2014. His musical career started quite early, as a violinist, he had classical musical training from the age of 10. He began producing electronic music in 2010 in various genres such as drum & bass, dubstep, experimental, glitch, and more. He is no beginner in the world of 170bpm genres, covering a wide range of styles and vibes, with previous releases on respected imprints such as Symmetry Recordings, CNVX, Hustle Audio, and many more. We’re so happy to have the honor to welcome him into the family with his first appearance on Soul Ex Machina – ‘Patterns Emerge‘ EP. This release brings autonomic flavor, huge atmospheres, and deep basslines.
The EP opens with spacious, moody keys of the first tune named “Level Of Senses”. Progression is the keyword for this one – starting with dubby kick work and low-placed bassline, adding subtle percussions and huge synthscapes in the later parts of the composition, which maintain its genius in its minimalistic. This mood evolves in “Venus”, a second bit in the tracklist. Atmospheric, dreamy synths evolve into the percussion-driven drop, layered on deep bass waves. As a wonderful example of St.Iff´s approach to the autonomic subgenre, this tune continues to tell the story of this EP, when the moods fly through arrangement and progresses through the length of the track. And now we get to the piece which has given name to the EP, Patterns Emerge is the factor that adds the true drama to this release. The mood is switched, and we get a gritty autonomic stepper, built on distinctive drum work and gritty bass growls. Restless and focused, made for an unusual, intelligent dance. Pleasure Of Living is the denouement of the “Patterns Emerge EP”. Soothing bass, minimal steppy drum pattern with the duality of motives, both letting you be carried away on the layers of dreams.
