‘Crossed’ is the second release from the start-out producer, Olly Pitcher, continuing his voyage into deep house storytelling via his imprint, Reckless Romantic Records.
The whirling wind and swirling sea effects of the track were first inspired by the ‘waves’ of sound he experienced on the playa of Black Rock City/Burning Man…
It was the feeling of being out in the desert in the middle of the night, completely ‘washed’ by the sonic vibrations of huge sound systems – waves that rippled through the crowds and out over the vast, open landscape.
As the production of ‘Crossed’ evolved, the name took on new meaning and became synonymous with Olly’s own transit. Crossing oceans and continents – literal, metaphorical, metaphysical – in an expansive time of new experiences, people and places, and new ways of thinking and expressing.
The result aims to capture a shift from one state to the next, and, with that, an exploration of duality and a merging of opposites – dark yet light, energetic yet peaceful, and electronic yet organic. The track ‘crosses’ sonic landscapes, folding space and time into a Drop that submerges the listener in the depths of the ocean while soaring through a celestial ‘dimension’ over the arid desert.
