An established figure-head in Ibiza, Tulum and beyond, Argentinian-born Kintar will make a welcome return to Sudam Recordings this May. Collaborating with esteemed vocalist Jinadu, who’s featured alongside the likes of Black Coffee and Dixon in recent years, the Ascending Lights EP sees the pair team up for the very first time, marking a milestone occasion for both artists.
Kintar spoke on how the release came together: “I began this track during the lockdown and I was emotional at the time, so I wanted to reflect those feelings in the tune. I sent it off to Jinadu, he came back with the idea for the lyrics and I loved it. It seems I managed to find the sound I was looking for: two versions, each of which represents my entire vibe. I can’t say the track has just one influence. There’s something of Depeche Mode and Dead Can Dance in there, as well as twenty-one years of being a music producer and a lifelong music fan.”
The title track begins proceedings, with the Golden Hour Mix manifesting as a slice of perfectly-crafted afro-house. Shimmering with an ethereal quality thanks to tribal-leaning drum solos and Jinadu’s transcendent vocal tones, the seven-minute cut retains a dancefloor-ready edge throughout, creating a lead single that feels innately emotive and danceable in one. Ascending Lights (7 am Mix) arrives next. Spurred on by weighty percussion and a driving bassline underneath, we meander through states of strength and reflection as toughened kick-hat pairings live beside delicately balanced synths. Jinadu’s soothing lyrical contributions once again leave us in a place of starry-eyed contemplation, transporting us to a world of pensive musical bliss.
From leading a globally-renowned party series (Sumerians) to currently holding a residency at one of the White Isle’s most well-loved institutions (Blue Marlin), Ibiza-based talent Kintar is an established presence on the international dance circuit. A mainstay of labels such as Watergate, Monaberry, and his very own Sudam Recordings, who regularly shares the booth with legendary South African figure Black Coffee, 2021 saw the launch of his Sumerians event concept, the likes of which garnered widespread industry-acclaim through its esteemed Blue Marlin residency. This year, the party returns to Blue Marlin, Ibiza, and Vagalume, Tulum, a testament to Kintar’s inherent love for music and the passion that comes with it.
