Something fresh and tasty for 2023 here on Tangential with an intricately produced, dubby slice of tech-boogie from You’re Alright I’m Alright (AKA acclaimed Irish cosmic funk producer Kʒːlu(curlew) AKA Pat Hatchett).
The word ‘Luciferin’ comes from a term for the compound found in organisms that generate bioluminescence and there is something very organic about this dancefloor bothering mutants.
The release comes with both a vocal and instrumental version. The instrumental reveals the producer’s knack for creating sophisticated and complex musical arrangements whilst never taking his eyes off the swing and repetitive groove that is essential for the real funk whilst the vocal version features a spoken word section (discovered by Pat as an acapella online) by Siberian artist and poet Igor Pose. After realizing that the poet’s intensity and delivery immediately added strange brevity to the track with the lyrical content tying nicely into some themes and ideas he was exploring, Pat shared the track with Igor, who instantly loved it and gave his blessings to the release.
