Carl Cox is an industry figurehead who’s legacy in music includes his iconic label Intec, which he runs with friend and business partner Jon Rundell, and the new release is from UK based Joe Brunning.
Joe Brunning has been an Intec favourite ever since Carl Cox released his album on the label in 2015. Since then, his return to the imprint has been highly anticipated and the jacking groove of these Latin flavour cuts has been well worth the wait.
Other labels to feature Joe Brunning include the likes of Bush Records, Stereo Productions and KMS Records run by the iconic Kevin Saunderson, who is also a fan of Joe Brunning’s looping style of deep techno.
Sampling percussive loops and soulful grooves from other records to rework and manipulate, there is a timeless quality to Joe Brunning’s up-tempo style.
‘The Shakedown’ brings the heat with trumpets and South American chanting brought to life with vibrant percussion. From the early part of this description some might be mistaken in thinking this is a house track, but this is full throttle techno with lots of energy and punishing groove.
‘Funky Fiesta’ focuses on a flamenco style guitar loop and chunky percussion with a slight drop in tempo that for some would put this track in house category, but its loopy style still has a strong techno influence, making it perfect for switching up the style of a DJ set, or simply banging out at the peak of a house set.
Release date: August 23th, 2019.
