The interplay between light and dark is the metaphorical leitmotif du jour on Jean Claude Ades’ Awake E.P., inspired by the people who “come into your life and give you joy, bringing brightness, turning the night into the day” and the universal feeling of emerging from the darkness with fresh perspectives, according to the Scorpios veteran. Deep and downtempo, the lead track “Awake” is given a tropical touch on the Sabo Remix feat. Conga Fist while “New Generation” draws the listener into a tentative and uncertain euphoria. Featuring rare vocals from Berlin-based producer Dennis Scheffel and a plethora of organic sounds and instruments from around the globe, Awake was imagined with imminent possibilities in mind and marks Jean Claude Ades’ first release on Scorpios Music.
