Hot on the heels of Manitox’s journey of boundless sonic exploration comes this new remarkable EP by the label’s owner and spearheader. “Sex and Chaos” encompasses much of what German Brigante’s sophisticated and maverick sound is about. An aesthetic quest is driven – in a constant and tense equilibrium – both by a compelling dance floor-oriented climax and a genuine underground-rooted emotive escapism. An awesome art of composition nurtured by a broad array of influences – ranging from pioneering or nowadays Techno and House, Indie Dance, or Synthwave to Breakbeat and other electro soundscapes in the purest 80/90 style – colliding with high sensitivity and forceful refinement.
First up comes “Sex”. An uninhibited Brigantinian manifesto stamped by a lusty and yet almost clinically hypnotic drum pattern as well as propelled by soul-stirring spatial melodic synth lines and an uplifting robotic vocal motif that have a fierce retrofuturistic erotic appeal.
Up next, on a stauncher-kicking note, is « Chaos ». A Dantesque groovy tune that deftly combines a tension-building bassline with perfectly modulated layers of swirling and sparkling synthesized waveforms that make the track both suggestive and trippy-hitting in equal measure and will drive the audience to an insane and gorgeously deranged venture. Concluding and bonifying the journey on a luscious atmospheric note, “No More” evinces a downtempo broken beat percussive approach enlightened by enthralling vintage-like melodic patterns and an evocative chorus which provide a rising magnetic effect with a strong emotional aura.
