Davidovitch is an electronic musician from Lausanne, Switzerland. The techno producer is best known for two EP’s released through the german label KOMPAKT. These days, he’s an international producer released on label like Traum, Resopal, Inclusif, and his own label cormalake.
Davidovitch has long been a stylistic shapeshifter, touching on old-school trip-hop, techno, house and beyond. Tiger des bois is said to take him “back to his roots.” In that sense, the EP succeeds.
‘Triton Drift’ isn’t a home run, but it presses some of the right buttons of Detroit. Its deep, throaty bassline, dramatic chords,. and deep vocals are chained to chugging kicks, reeling you in with their big-room flavour.
‘Tiger of Neptune’ feels more contemporary, twisting the original’s melody into a minor-key inversion. It punches up where the original curves down. Davidovitch‘s vocal phrases become triumphant—the track sticks in your head like a good Top 40 song. This helps make it an ideal Cormalake record, striking a great balance between imaginative techno and the dance floor.
