For the third release on his Strangely Enough label, Matthias Meyer presents exciting Moscow duo Come Closer with the beautifully atmospheric ‘Journey Begins’ EP, released on 11 March.
Following Matthias Meyer’s previous two releases on Strangely Enough, his acclaimed recent EP ’The Choir’ and last year’s ’Strangely Enough’, with ‘Journey Begins’, Matthias Meyer showcases other unique artists with a similar sound palette and varied style to his own.
The EP opens with the stunning title track ‘Journey Begins’. The delicate chimes and percussion take the listener on a magical journey. This is accompanied by swirling synths which continue to build throughout and are joined by sumptuous strings and a mysterious vocal sample which cuts in and out, alongside majestic choral elements. This is followed by ‘Changes’ – a dreamy, shimmering cut perfect for sunset DJ sets.
The highly original and hypnotic ‘Do You See This’ closes the EP perfectly, featuring a poignant vocal deployed alongside the stirring chords and glitchy, fragmented beats which pulsate and trickle throughout.
Come Closer is comprised of well-known Russian Producers and DJs Mike Spirit and Asaga, connected through their works released on the oldest Russian electronic label, Highway Records. The duo formed Come Closer to present their own vision of the deep, progressive and organic house sounds.
