Brooklyn-based DJ & producer Saqib has just unveiled his latest single, ‘So Cold, So Sweet’. The new drop, mastered by Jay Tripwire, is already available as a free download via his personal SoundCloud page.
‘So Cold, So Sweet’ was produced in March 2020, when the lockdown started in New York, and the first track Saqib produced in isolation. The cut is based on an American jazz standard, ‘St. James Infirmary Blues’, which is of uncertain origin.
According to Saqib, “It has many different versions, but, loosely, it tells the tale of a soldier who has returned from war to find his lover in the infirmary – so cold, so sweet, and so pale… and then you have to listen to know the rest of the story…“
