UMEK’s 1605 drops a new techno EP featuring a collaboration between label regular Sam WOLFE and new artist KILL SCRIPT.
Both of the artists are based in America and have played together on the line-up of well-known events across the United States. They each have a style that blends thumping percussion and powerful synth lines.
Sam WOLFE is an artist who regularly teams up in the studio with others, and his previous 1605 releases have featured the likes of Rebel Boy and Kreecher, but he is also a talented solo producer who’s featured on other labels including Phobiq, Tronic and Reload.
KILL SCRIPT is a relatively new producer, but he has already achieved releases on Armada Music and Night Mode. He is best-known for his DJ sets at festivals such as EDC Las Vegas, EDC Orlando, Electric Zoo in New York, and Seismic Dance Event in Austin.
‘Disruption’ is the EP’s first track, and it opens with the pounding of a massive kick drum and the intensity of the menacing bassline. Its dark atmosphere is complemented by the contrasting tones of the seductively spoken vocal sample. Hitting its peak in the main breakdown, it ramps up the suspense before the drums explode back into the groove.
‘Blackout’ closes out the release as the second track, and its aggressive energy is along a similar line to the other cut. Aimed directly at the club, it’s a weapon of mass destruction that will ignite any dance floor. Its trance-inspired breakdown gives a brief, hands-in-the-air moment before the percussion begins another unrelenting assault of excitement.
