The new EP on This And That lab label comes from Belgian boys Raw District, who once again pull out all the stops with four tracks of an extremely high quality.
This And That Lab is a label run by Davide Squillace and each of the releases fits with his DJ style of tech house with bags of charisma and floor filling energy.
Raw District before Christmas featured a track on a mixed artist compilation compiled by Davide Squillace for his labels Spring Summer Fall Winter (SSFW) series, but this time the guys are back with a solo EP that also features a collaboration with Rodham.
Alongside the track done with Rodham one of the EP’s most prominent offerings features vocals from Forrest, whose silky tones can also be heard on music made by people including Walker & Royce or Cristoph.
As many will no doubt expect from Raw District if they have heard any of their tracks on Crosstown Rebels, Selador or Souvenir Music, this EP is a sophisticated take on tech house, but what might surprise fans is the second to last track ‘In Between’ as its style moves more towards techno territory.
Overall though, the other three tracks are very much in line with Raw District’s blend of mood-setting melody fused with tribal percussion and melodic elements.
