South African music group, Omagoqa, has released their latest single, ‘iNumber Number,’ featuring Khanyisa Jaceni’s vocals. The song, released through The Other Side Recordings, precedes their EP, ‘Umqhumo Wethu,’ set to debut on April 26th.
‘iNumber Number’ showcases Omagoqa’s musical style, merging the rhythm of gqom with the melody of amapiano. The track recreates the vibrant club scene ambiance, with rhythmic beats accompanying lively interactions. The inclusion of renowned DJ/producer DBN Gogo adds a refreshing element to the song.
Omagoqa’s members, Andile Mazibuko, Franco Makhathini, and Njabulo Sibiya, expressed their excitement about the new single: “‘iNumber Number’ represents a creative synthesis of our diverse influences and artistic vision. ‘Umqhumo Wethu,’ or ‘Our Explosion’ in English, is their upcoming EP that represents the energy of Durban’s local community events, often hosted in minibus taxis. These events serve as a platform for aspiring producers to present their latest work to an eager audience.
Originating from Durban, South Africa, Omagoqa has been a pioneer in the gqom genre with their unique ‘uThayela’ & ‘Is’qinsi’ style. Their fusion of traditional African sounds and contemporary beats has propelled them onto the international stage, resulting in worldwide tours, festival performances, and collaborations during their ten-year career.
