My Favorite Robot is a name many fans of house and techno associated with quality. The duo behind the alias also run a namesake label called My Favorite Robot Records, and whether its other people’s music signed to the label, or music produced by the guys themselves, the quality is rarely anything less than exceptional.
Fans of ‘My Favorite Robot’ will no doubt be more than familiar with their music on labels such as Visionquest, Sasha’s Last Night On Earth, Click Records, No.19 Music, and their new release on Alfa Romero Recordings is another example of their production pedigree.
The singular original track titled ‘Mild Peril‘ is a stripped back cut of a deep and melodic house with pulsating bass notes and cosmic synth parts. Vast and full of intrigue, the space odyssey vibe is full of atmosphere but underpinned by neatly sequenced percussion, it still has the required elements needed to move a dancefloor.
Expanding on the originals interstellar groove is the 80’s influenced remix from Caruan, whose remix sounds like it could have been taken straight off the soundtrack from some classic Sci-Fi orientated TV show. Wonderfully over the top and rich with analog synths, there is a definite disco influence which further embraces the sound of the 80’s.
Some might prefer the mood-setting original, and others might like the charismatic remix by Caruan, but both versions are stunningly special in their own unique way.
