Max Cooper has unveiled details of his forthcoming album ‘On Being,’ set for release in February 2025 on his Mesh label. The announcement coincides with the release of a single from this upcoming album, ‘True Under Certain Conditions.’
This seventh studio album represents a creative approach, drawing inspiration directly from the audience. Over two years, the artist collected anonymous quotes by asking profound questions about human existence.
With ‘On Being,’ Cooper aims to create a snapshot of contemporary minds by encouraging anonymous sharing of thoughts typically kept private. The result is a raw, honest collection of confessions ranging from dark contemplations to expressions of love and longing.
“I was interested in the way I interact with people for my writing process, which usually involves a one-way communication of feelings and ideas that I later find out whether they resonate with others or not,” Cooper explains. This collaborative approach led to a more intense creative process, with grief, hope, regret, joy, hurt, and love forming the basis for each track.
He describes the experience as “finding a secret window into everyone’s minds” and discovering shared experiences amidst chaos, pleasure, and pain. Despite societal discord, ‘On Being’ reveals humanity’s innate need for trust and communal expression.
The album will continue to evolve as Cooper gathers more confessions, creating an ecosystem of emotions that speaks to our shared humanity.
