London mayor announces £1.3 million fund in support of the creative industries

The fund will be rolled out between April 2021 and June 2023.

Sadiq Khan, the Mayor of London has announced a £1.3 million fund for the creative industries located in Lambeth, Croydon, and Hounslow. Each borough will focus on different areas: TV and broadcasting in Hounslow, digital media in Lambeth, and music in Croydon. The initiative will provide opportunities to some 250 Londoners and 120 employees, and will have a focus on supporting ethnic minorities, women, Black and Asian people.

‘Culture and the creative industries are at the heart of our city and they will play a huge role in our economic and social recovery. That’s why we must do all we can to support jobs and small businesses at this challenging time, and that includes ensuring there are opportunities available to all’, said Khan.

The mayor’s Creative Enterprise Zones Program will be providing £450,000, while Hounslow and Lambeth contribute another £200,000. The other half of the money will be fronted by the European Social Fund.
