Josh Wink sets the stage for the 30th-anniversary celebrations of his influential imprint, Ovum Recordings, by releasing a new single, ‘The Deepness.’
‘The Deepness,’ an expansive track that is as invigorating and deep as it is cinematic, spearheads the anniversary celebrations. The seven-minute journey of this cut begins with rhythmic percussions, followed by a breakdown worthy of a space odyssey before summoning us back into the rave for the final act.
Josh Wink’s statement reveals his ambition and drive: “I always want to grow, push myself, and move into new areas of musical expression and creativity. With ‘The Deepness’, I believe if you know my music, you can tell it’s a Wink production on the track. However, it shows a more organic, deep, and sensual side to my usual production output.”
Wink has been a significant influence in electronic dance music since the 90s, bringing a DIY and post-punk energy. His breakout hit ‘Higher State of Consciousness’ was recognized as one of Rolling Stone’s ‘Greatest Dance Songs Of All Time’ in 2022. His Ovum imprint, born in 1994 in Philadelphia, has over 400 releases and 130 associated artists, reflecting his boundary-pushing attitude.
In celebration of this milestone, Josh will be taking Ovum on a global tour this Spring/Summer, including his annual Winkdown in Philadelphia in April and Carl Cox’s Birthday On The Beach in Brighton this July.
