Vidno is a DJ, producer, promoter, and creator of Audiobar (Audioriver Festival partner event in Płock). He’s also a member of the collective Audiobar and Affekt (Agency), Dom Muzyki club resident, and Molo Festival organizer, working in the electronic music industry for over two decades now. He’s played many festivals such as Audioriver festival, Molo festival, Gamma Festival, WROsound, World Wide Warsaw & Zbliżenia Festival, and has supported acts like Damian Lazarus, Robert Babicz, Michael Mayer, Jon Hester, Baikal, Dubspeeka, and Jan Blomqvist, among many others.
Vidno also launched his own label Vidno Airlines Records, which focuses on musical deep flights, regardless of genre. His upcoming ‘After Coma’ EP is a combination of deep house, deep tech, and dub sounds.
EG caught up with Vidno to talk about the release of his ‘After Coma’ EP, his devotion towards music, origins, Vidno Airlines Records, and much more.
EG: Hi Vidno! Welcome. It’s a pleasure to have you with us today. How have you been? How’s your year going so far?
Vidno: Hello all. This year has started very intensively. Lots of publishing plans ahead of me, but also other music-related projects. You may never see it from the side, but it is very time & energy-consuming. The day is unfortunately too short. I spend time outside of work mainly only in the studio and with my relatives. I try not to be distracted. Music first and foremost.
EG: Congratulations on the release of your ‘After Coma’ EP, which is out now via your own Vidno Airlines! What has the initial reception been like so far?
Vidno: It’s nice to hear a compliment about your music or read support from names such as Anja Schneider. I really appreciate the sincere words of producers with whom I musically identify. It is a great feeling to be appreciated by the music industry around you. I put my heart into it.
EG: What’s the inspiration behind this one? Is there a story to your tracks? Or do you view them more like ‘sonic explorations’?
Vidno: I always want a story to be found in my music, but there is also a story to do with each track. When I think about the music I released in the past, it comes to mind what my life was like then and what was going on around me. It is a kind of travel back in time. About the EP, the title track ‘After Coma’ is a story about clinical death and awakening from it. If you listen, you will hear a continuous line and then a pulse. This is a procedure to present the whole situation. I came across an online recording with Oprah Winfrey, decided to sample it and create “storytelling”. The second track ‘International’ was born after my trip to Berlin to visit my friend Pysh. I haven’t been to Germany for many years and this track will remind me of this trip.
EG: And sonically? What will your fans find on ‘After Coma’?
Vidno: The EP is a combination of dirty deep house, deep tech, and dub. The original version of ‘After Coma’ is almost 8 minutes of increasing tension. ‘International’ is a lot of low frequencies, which paints an even deeper character to the track. The remix of ‘Polish’ by producer Krissky is thrilling, and this breakdown and getting out of it is a real masterpiece. The Dub’s reinterpretation of the Italian producer Leomar has a great atmosphere. You can reflect and fly away. I’m proud of this material.

EG: How would you describe your music by now? Is it what you initially thought you wanted to make? How has it evolved since you first started producing?
Vidno: I think there is one thought that I follow. Being creative and non-standard is one thing, but having your own style is something that always sets us apart from thousands of producers. I think this style is slowly crystallizing. For sure I’ve always wanted to create deep sounds. The upcoming release is proof of this.
Electronic Groove: As we mentioned, ‘After Coma’ will be out on your own Vidno Airlines. How’s the label coming along? Did you have to do a lot of groundwork and research before setting up Vidno Airlines?
Vidno: Over the past few years, I have slowly matured into the idea of being a publisher. I watched other labels or music platforms. Someone once said that I play deep flights. This thought gave rise to the whole idea of the label. At the moment, there are several releases ahead, not only mine. Artists and remixers are my individual musical preferences, and there will be a lot of deep sounds, that’s for sure. I think the label will gain momentum this year. Buckle up in case of turbulence.
EG: Let’s take a quick trip down memory lane. When did you first come in contact with electronic dance music? Is there a record or song from your early days that you still hold close to your heart?
Vidno: In the 90s I borrowed a lot of cassettes with electronics from my friends, first events, yes fun time. However, if I had to direct my musical heart, it would be Depeche Mode’s discography from those years. The thought came to me that I might do an edit one day. It would be a sentimental journey back to those years.
EG: You also took part in our EG Spotlight Series with a phenomenal mix. Thank you! What can listeners find on this one?
Vidno: The whole podcast is a bit of a story. I always like to build tension in sets. The selection is deep house and deep tech and the producers are mostly names from South Africa. I am currently fascinated by these artists in this scene. In addition, I presented unreleased tracks from my label.

EG: What else can we expect from Vidno and Vidno Airlines in the near future? What new milestones are you looking out for in the coming months?
Vidno: The label itself is a milestone. I’m just going to keep grinding this diamond. Looking at subsequent releases, I already know that I have always wanted to release such music and reach a certain group of artists and audiences in which I will feel good. The main goal has been achieved. There was one plane at my airport, but now the fleet is growing 😉
