The Archer: “Our goal is to help amazing producers get their music out to share with the world”

It’s been nothing short of an incredible debut year for The Archer and his new imprint, There Is A Light. Having launched the project back in January with his breakthrough EP Lonely Dream, the LA-based DJ, producer, and label head has been honing his A&R skills ever since, and now boasts a substantial catalog of top-class releases from some of the most exciting names on the international house and techno circuit. With a slew of new music penned for release over the course of 2022 and beyond, The Archer continues to promise diversity, quality, and integrity in everything the label puts out, as he aims to transcend language through melody, rhythm, and art.

EG caught up with The Archer to learn more about the drop of his latest release, ‘Let’s Not Interrupt’, his There Is A Light imprint, future endeavors, and more.

EG: Hello! Welcome to EG. It’s a pleasure to have you here with us today. Where are you based right now? How have you been?

The Archer: Thanks for the invite. I am based in Los Angeles, CA. I’ve been great, thank you!

EG: Congratulations on the release of ‘Let’s Not Interrupt’! What has the initial reception been like so far?

The Archer: People love it and say it’s a vibe. I wanted to make a feel-good house track and did just that.

EG: What’s the inspiration behind this EP? What sort of things trigger you on a creative level? Are there stories and concepts to your tracks?

The Archer: I am making the music I am personally drawn to, regardless of what genre it’s in, or even if it’s different than what I’ve done before. So, I usually start with a sound that inspires me and let it go organically from there.

EG: What can your fans expect to find on ‘Let’s Not Interrupt’, musically speaking?

The Archer: Let’s Not Interrupt features ‘90s house chords and a beautiful take-charge vocal that inspires listeners to live in the moment and “keep on dancing.”

EG: And, of course, this is out on your There Is A Light imprint, which you set up last year, marking its 11th release. How is the label doing so far? Is it more work than expected?

The Archer: It’s doing great. Our goal is to help amazing producers get their music out to share with the world, and we are just doing that.

EG: We know that you’ve had quite a successful run as a lawyer. Why and when did you take the leap into electronic music?

The Archer: I have been a fan of electronic music for as long as I can remember, but I started professionally DJing in 2016, and finally leaped into producing and starting my own label in 2021.

EG: What new hopes and fears have arisen from this deep dive into music? How do you navigate through them?

The Archer: No fears. It’s all organic when you love what you do and do it from and with love.

EG: These past few years gave us all a chance to slow down and reassess. What would you like to see more and less of in our scene?

The Archer: More amazing music from undiscovered artists. Less influence of social media on the expression and success of art and music.

“It’s all organic when you love what you do and do it from and with love”

EG: What else can we expect from The Archer and TIAL in the next few months? What new milestones are you looking forward to?

The Archer: From The Archer, you can expect new releases spanning multiple genres, and on There Is A Light prepare for releases from myself, The Reactivitz, Burko, Ron Costa, and more.

EG: Thank you for your time! We wish you all the best!

The Archer: Thank you!
