Dyzen is the musical signature of Francesco Perrone, a young Italian producer, who through music wants to tell his story. Founded in 2018, he quickly begin his ascent through the most established and solid realities of the international electronic music scene.

His productions, rooted in soundscapes ranging from purely techno rhythmic structures to more psychedelic and nostalgic melodic lines, will immediately land on the most influential record labels worldwide: Afterlife, Oddity, fabric, and Impressum, attracting the attention and constant support of the most acclaimed DJs and contemporary artists like Tale of Us, Artbat, Adriatique, and Mind Against.
In a constant search for innovation, Dyzen aims to break the boundaries between past, present, and future, taking his music to the next level, made of contrasting vibes and sensations, ready to blend harmoniously into a new dimension.
EG caught up with Dyzen to learn more about his contribution to our EG Podcast mix series, his creative process, plans for the Summer, and more.
EG: Hi Francesco! Welcome to EG. It’s a pleasure to have you here with us. How have you been? Where are you right now?
Dyzen: Hi guys, my pleasure. I live in Puglia (South Italy), I’ve been lucky enough to travel a lot and see many places, but I’ll be honest, I love Italy and at least for now, I have no need to move anywhere else.
EG: First of all, thank you for your contribution to our EG Podcast Series. What can your fans expect to find in this mix? Can you walk us through your process when crafting a mix?
Dyzen: Well, I don’t usually record many mixes during the year, but in this case, I really felt I had to. The mix contains many of my most requested unreleased tracks, and it didn’t seem fair to make my followers wait until the release date to listen to them. In this specific case, I simply selected unreleased tracks by myself and artists I admire and mixed everything trying to give an order and make them work together.
EG: Your last release came last year, with the drop of ‘Freedom’. your collaboration with Mind Against, the impressive closer to their ‘fabric Presents’, which also came with a showstopping video. How did that particular track come about?
Dyzen: You touched a delicate point, as you said my latest releases date back to last year, I’m not the kind of artist who releases music every month. Those who follow me know I play my game, I hate the rhythms of the music industry, and everywhere I look I see a need to rush. I’m not in a hurry, I’m 24 years old, and until a few years ago collaborating with Mind Against, releasing on Afterlife, and playing abroad were just dreams. Today it’s a reality. This is the reason why if I’m not 100% convinced of a song, I don’t release it, even if the biggest label wants to sign me. I’m on my own journey and I’m in no hurry to get anywhere.
Alex and Fede know it well, hahaha! We spent a lot of time making the track as close to perfect as possible. Basically ‘Freedom’ was supposed to be my single for the fabric compilation, but when I sent it to the guys, they were so impressed with the idea that we decided to collaborate. They did an amazing job on the drums and atmospheres. With their touch, we have created something that I am very proud of.
EG: What can your fans expect next in terms of new music? Is there anything you can anticipate on that front?
Dyzen: Well this is another interesting point, I physically can’t make the same kind of music without spacing. After two weeks of working on a project, my ears start asking for a change. I studied music, I love music and I feel limited to only do 10% of what I feel capable of doing. You will hear it this year, I know that from a commercial point of view, it is not smart, because we have been accustomed to branding our products. The famous ‘sound signature’, ‘we must be recognizable’: personally, I don’t care, I want to do what I feel. What should you expect? Lots of new music.

EG: By the way, Summer’s here. Do you have any plans in store? How do you unplug during Summertime?
Dyzen: I’m very excited for this summer, there are so many events where I will finally have the honor to bring my music, surely the most heartfelt ones will be July 28th at Tomorrowland and August 17th at Afterlife Ibiza. Besides these you will find me in Tel Aviv, Istanbul, Ljubljana, Brussels, and many other cities around the world, without forgetting my beloved Italy with Earthbeat Festival and Badawi, I can’t wait to play in my hometown and have fun with my friends and my family.
EG: How do you keep entertained when not in the studio? Have you checked out any good movies, series, books, or albums you’d recommend?
Dyzen: I’ll be honest, it’s bad to say, but I don’t listen to music anymore, I mean, I don’t listen to techno or electronic music anymore. Not because I don’t like it, but it’s like putting your favorite song as an alarm clock in the morning, you start to hate it. This is why, to clean my ears, I listen to a lot of jazz and classical music, music that relaxes me and where I find elements I can bring into my creations.
Don’t get me wrong. I love my music, but there are two types of producers, those who use presets, ready-made loops, and midi sequences taken from packs and have the tracks mixed and mastered by the biggest studio in Berlin, and those like me, who create the sounds they use, write the melodies and mix and master by themselves. It takes me 1 month, if it goes well, a year, if it goes badly, to finish a song, I end up exhausted, I really need to hear something different.
Fun fact, I’m the only one in my gym who doesn’t use headphones, maybe the only two hours of my day when I really take a break, but it often happens to hear my songs in the gym playlists while I’m working out. Believe me, I would like to unplug the cables (hahaha).
EG: Can you share something about yourself with us that only a few people know about?
Dyzen: I have a ghost producer.

EG: What’s next for Dyzen? What particular milestones are you looking forwards to this 2023? Where can your fans catch you next?
Dyzen: Mmm…as I said, I’m not a great planner, I don’t set goals, it’s just when you least expect it that things happen. For sure, you will see great things on Habitat, Mind Against’s new label, I’m very excited because finally I can do what I feel, with Alessandro and Federico there is a great understanding and mutual trust. Beyond this, I already have a couple of EPs and a couple of Various Artists signed, so yeah, expect lots of new music.
