Sam Shepherd, better known by his stage name Floating Points, has announced the upcoming release of his new album, ‘Cascade’, which is scheduled to drop this September under the Ninja Tune label.
The announcement was accompanied by the release of the record’s lead single, ‘Key103.’ The single features a visualizer created by Akiko Nakayama, a Tokyo-based artist and frequent collaborator of Shepherd.
‘Cascade’ marks a significant return to Shepherd’s dance music roots after a period of exploring experimental and classical music genres. The album is deeply influenced by the artist’s Manchester origins, with each track drawing inspiration from local landmarks and cultural institutions. ‘Key103’ is named after an influential underground radio station that played a pivotal role in his formative years.
