European Union artists will require a visa to perform in the United Kingdom

The measure will take effect in 2021.

UK’s Home Office revealed that artists from the European Union will need to apply for a Level 5 visa when the Brexit transition is completed. This means that starting next year, it will be necessary to have the document to perform in live presentations, auditions, workshops, talks, promotion and participation in cultural events.

In 2018, the Internal Affairs Subcommittee of the EU House of Lords expressed that “such development would be detrimental to the cultural sector of the United Kingdom, and would represent a significant loss for the public who enjoys seeing the talent of all Europe acting in the United Kingdom“.

The aforementioned visa has a cost of £244 and to obtain it it is necessary to have a sponsorship certificate. Once granted, it will last between 12 and 24 months.
