The British artist spoke out against DJs playing parties during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dave Clarke has expressed his disappointment with ‘The Scene’ for going ahead with parties in Europe during the pandemic that do not enforce safety measures such as masks, and criticized DJs who are playing at these events in a Facebook post.
The veteran performer called these DJs ‘fucking idiots’ who are ‘just doing this for ego and profit’, noting that the coronavirus is still at large on the continent and these parties could actively contribute to its continuity. Recently cases have spiked in cities such as Paris and Antwerp, both having hosted raves.
Clarke went further, saying ‘Those international DJs that do these parties have basically spat at those legitimate industries’. ‘They have spat at the backline crew that has made them look a hero, and for what? A successfully released sponsored post on socials talking about how they missed gigs. Fucking idiots. This is not over and they have probably made this worse, on their watch, but hey great gig’, he continued.
‘We all miss playing, but to play these events as an international DJ of repute has put down our industry in the eyes of those that look for any reason to not make it easy’, concluded the Amsterdam-based DJ.
