Matt Soulie’s Dijon-based imprint Cosmocities has just unveiled the drop of its latest VA compilation ‘Denshi Ongaku No Bigaku / 電子音楽の美学 (The Aesthetics of Japanese Electronic Music)’. The new two-volume package is already available to stream and purchase digitally and on vinyl via the label’s own Bandcamp.
The first volume gets the ball rolling with a fine assortment of mostly ambient, electronica, and deep house-focussed cuts, including music by Kaoru Inoue, Inner Science, Aquarium, Naohito Uchiyama, Keita Sano, and more.
On the flip side, ‘Denshi Ongaku No Bigaku / 電子音楽の美学 (The Aesthetics of Japanese Electronic Music) Vol.2’ showcases the boogier side of Japanese sonics, nimbly moving the cursor from jazz to Afro-house, via deep technoid wares and spaced-out funky business, with cuts by Seiji Ono, Uyama Hiroto, Ryoma Takemasa, and Satoshi Fumi, among others.
