Continuing his love affair with London’s Studio 338, Lee Burridge brings his famous Brooklyn party All Day I Dream, back to the garden for an under-the-sun afternoon full of his signature blend of house and melancholic shades of techno.
Walking into the Ibiza inspired 3000 capacity terrace, Russian duo, Izhevski direct the room after moving the music inside from the garden, in search of speakers that could properly deliver on their percussive melodicism and emotive atmospheres, with tracks like their own ‘Willow’ making the cut.
With the newly renovated atrium capturing the sky above, the sun continued to beam through the clouds and onto the floor, complimented by the decor of lights, lanterns and drapings of flora to create a magical atmosphere for when Lee Burridge took their place.
Lee’s presence behind the decks engaged the crowd from the beginning with a delicious mix of emotionalism that takes us through a full energy set. With the dance floor alight with smiles and kind hearts, an unknown and unreleased remix of Everything But the Girl’s classic track, ‘Missing’ unified the already banded crowd until the sun had set, closing an end to a selection that will be remembered in the weeks to come.
Label mate YokoO was up next to continue a magical evening of dance and musical celebration. As the night progressed, the Berlin-based artist consistently managed to captivate the floor with grounding pace with each thoughtful mix, delectable melodic vocal cuts reverberated around the mezzanine, notably when the haunting vocals behind Pete Tong’s ‘Aurora’ (Chaim Remix) made a play.
As the night came to a close, the ovation and smiles were reflected back by the artists of the evening, signalling an end to a Sunday that does it right in so many ways. Whether in the desert, at the beach or just south of the Thames, All Day I Dream parties continue to capture the musical hearts of an ever-growing family of dreamers.
