Get Involved: Efforts from the music industry for Ukraine

Artists, labels, and brands are raising funds with music, livestreams, and more to support Ukraine.

Sadly, the Russian invasion on Ukrainian ground has resulted in a humanitarian crisis affecting thousands, forcing a mass exodus to neighboring countries like Hungary or Poland. Most men have stayed behind to join the fight in some capacity.

In light of these actions, the music industry has rallied together in order to raise funds for active organizations bringing relief to those in distress.

Here are some ways in which you can get involved:

Global and digital music-based community United For Equity has dropped their ‘Support Ukraine’ Fundraiser VA, which aims to raise funds in support of the Ukrainian people. The new compilation is already available to purchase via their official Bandcamp page, and all proceeds will be donated to savelife.in.ua.

On March 5th, James Hype’s Stereohype label will be hosting a livestream as they raise funds for Save The Children UK, in aid of children affected by the war in Ukraine. You can donate directly to Save The Children’s efforts in Ukraine here.

Meanwhile, Russian electronic music label Gost Zvuk has released a compilation titled ‘STOP THE WAR!’, with 100% of proceeds raised being sent to humanitarian funds helping those in need.

Today, London’s radical protest and music collective R3 Soundsystem has announced their ‘Ukraine Emergency Fundraiser’, a 9-hour event on March 11th at South London venue MOT. Confirmed DJs so far include Hot Chip (DJ set), The Blessed Madonna, Midland, Roisin Murphy, and more, with all the proceeds being donated to the event partners Bündnis Entwicklung Hilft (Alliance for Development Help), Fulcrum UA, and All Out to ‘to provide humanitarian help on the ground, and support people in Ukraine and refugees in the neighboring countries that they are fleeing to’. Tickets to the fundraiser are available here.

On March 13th, Armigé, Bespoke, Listed, and a myriad of other partners will be behind the ‘United We Care ::: New York City for UKRAINE’ event, with David Orin, Holmar, Wild Dark, and more. 100% of all funds raised will go directly to charities aiding the Ukrainian people.

Also, here’s an open-source spreadsheet with Bandcamp links for various Ukrainian labels and artists. You can also find a list of organizations accepting donations here.
