A dance collective formed by a group of friends, York outfit Augusta Sky has been dealing their own brand of funky electro-pop with a laid-back groove and is on a roll since the release of ‘Dreaming’ and ‘Feelings’. As musicians, they have worked on various different projects, including performing at festivals such as Humber Street Sesh, Pride Festivals, and also playing a BBC Radio 1Xtra Session at Maida Vale – and their shared love of funk and dance music brought them together to form the sound of Augusta Sky. Now, they link up with Manchester DJ/Producer Nick Hussey and session singer Alanna Lyes for a brand new sugar-laced cut in ‘Time Will Heal’.
On the A-side, sultry synthetic waves wash gently over a delectable bassline that strolls without haste, carefree as it bathes under a glistening sky. Insinuating what’s about to come, Alanna Lyes’ lush vocals start to caress the laid-back ambiance conjured by Augusta Sky before a Nile Rodgers-esque guitar kicks the funk into gear. By the halfway mark, producer Nick Hussey takes the York outfit for a shimmering spin under the neon lights for a sublime journey while Alanna throws tomorrow to the wind, knowing that everything will be alright.
As the plot thickens, Augusta Sky taps the talents of Brighton DJ/Producer Scott Diaz for one of his classic ‘Funk Excursions’, breathing new life into ‘Time Will Heal’. Constructing a more robust frame, Scott Diaz dives in deep with some flavorful stabs that reflect off the wet pavement on a pristine summer night. Along the way, a kaleidoscope of keys traverses in and out as Diaz submerges Lyes’ vocals in heavy modulation for a spaced-out, narcotic voyage across the milky way, signaling the ultimate joy-ride.
