“This mix is a live recording of my set at the 2021 opening party at Warung Beach Club a few weeks ago. I played at this venue a few times before, but this time was super special for me, because the party was the first event there since it was shut down because of the pandemic. In my mix I actually played a lot of unreleased tracks, so have a listen, remember them and maybe you’ll see one or the other track to be released over the next couple of months. Enjoy!” – Magdalena

Germany’s Magdalena has firmly established herself as an artist, promoter, and DJ, having first been introduced to electronic music by her older brother by sneaking into a club at the age of 15. She has been constantly surrounded by the musical influences of Hamburg, immersed in Germany’s flourishing deep melodic- and indie – techno/house scene.

From her renowned SHADOWS events held across Ibiza, Europe, North America to her impressive discography across labels Diynamic, Mobilee, Kitball, Selador through to John Digweed’s Bedrock Records, Crosstown Rebels, knee deep in sound, Anjunadeep, and Mood, Magdalena is set for an exciting future. With Hamburg being influential in the creation of Diynamic Music, Magdalena was the integral part of the foundation with their club, EGO as the owner, taking control of management, bookings and artist relations. Firmly established within the electronic community as a ‘crowd first’ DJ, quickly leading to being in demand with Ibiza’s Pacha and Amnesia, Watergate Berlin as well as worldwide Diynamic Showcases and Festivals such as Melt, Tomorrowland or Sonus Festival.

“To be honest I think it was back in the days at EGO club in Hamburg when I had to take over for an artist whose flight was cancelled. It was then when I noticed how much fun it is to play in front of people, and I received incredible feedback which led to me deejaying more often.” Magdalena Describing herself as “methodical” the challenge of being in the studio was always seen as “feeling it was the right time”. In 2016, after many months of locking herself away, she released her much-lauded debut track ‘Should I Stay’ on the 10 Years of Diynamic Anniversary compilation, following up in 2017, releasing her first full-length EP, ‘Morphosfalter’ on Anja Schneider’s Leena Music imprint. After a number of high profile remixes, most notably Moby’s iconic’Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad’, Magdalena released her first EP on Diynamic, ‘Elementum’, in the spring of 2018.

The following year, Magdalena returned to the studio with a host of remixes including ‘Ida Engberg – Abataka’, ‘Nicole Moudaber – The Sun At Midnight’ as well as the long time classic and iconic ‘Shout – Tears for Fears’ whilst releasing her EP on Damian Lazarus’ Rebellion imprint. “Magdalena‘s opening track “Mountains of Es Cubells” pays tribute to Ibiza’s after-party culture – which occurs in private houses that open when the clubs close, out in the warm air and sunlight, and a very intimate atmosphere. The protagonist’s verdict “I think tonight I see Ibiza like it was 25 years ago” sums it up perfectly.” – Knights of the Turntable

Lead track ‘Mountains of Es Cubells’ would go on to define Magdalena’s landmark Ibiza season; after having played on the island and hosting her show on Ibiza Sonica Radio, “Magdalena’s Pony Farm” – a tongue in cheek reference to her “ponies”, the group of party girls that accompany her at every party, it was not long before she was invited to launch her own branded weekly residency ‘SHADOWS’ at Blue Marlin Ibiza and Cova Santa in 2019 SHADOWS became an instant success. Using a format that starts the early evening, the concept was fluid by the changing of lighting and decor, soaking in and taking advantage of Ibiza’s famed outdoor music culture. High-profile bookings include Solomun, Tale of Us, Nicole Moudaber, Hernan Cattaneo, La Fleur, and many more, quickly solidifying its presence and herself on the island and internationally. 2019 and Magdalena expanded SHADOWS internationally from Tulum and across Europe taking in Zurich, Berlin, and Hamburg as well as South America and the United States. “I wanted to have the different vibes of day, sunset and nighttime, production and high-quality music. I’m happy to report that it’s been going really well so far and I absolutely love the SHADOWS concept, it’s been really fun to take the reins creatively a bit.” Magdalena – When We Dip Interview Like all artists in 2020, the world came to a grinding halt in touring, yet Magdalena once again returned to the studio, releasing the stunning Outlines EP, released year under John Digweed’s seminal Bedrock Records label. Whilst making the most of lockdown in Germany, Magdalena has stripped away layers of her renowned ‘Shadows’ event to bring a revised ‘clubbers’ focused to strengthen the series outdoor events in 2021 and 2022.
