Felix Kröcher: “I wanted to bring back all the positive vibes musically in ‘Passion'”

German techno powerhouse Felix Kröcher is an artist beyond any trends or hype. His ever-constant ascention is in direct correlation with a cascading output of scorchers that have graced legendary events such as Mayday, Loveparade, TimeWarp, Nature One, Wire, Creamfields, Urban Art Forms, SonneMondSterne, Free Your Mind, and Mysteryland. Now, Kröcher has unveiled his latest creation, ‘Passion’, a feel-good cut, brimming with energy and a positive outlook that is much needed these days.

Today we sit down with Felix Kröcher to talk about the release of ‘Passion’, his creative workflow, the effects of the pandemic, and much more.

Electronic Groove: Hello Felix. Its a bit more than a year after our last chat. How have the last few months been?

Felix Kröcher: Hey guys, thanks for having me. The last year definitely was challenging through the pandemic and lockdowns. Playing no shows was actually the most difficult thing for me. But I’m healthy and doing great, and the time with my kids is enjoyable as well. I used the time to work on a lot of new music and also launched my podcast with German radio station Sunshine Live recently.

Electronic Groove: We just listened to your latest cut titled ‘Passion’. It’s definitely full of it as the name suggests. Can you take us on the production of the track and how it came together?

Felix Kröcher: Basically it all started with the piano riff of the track. It felt like an element that could work really well, especially on a festival & open air. Still, I wanted to have a really straight club feel throughout it and added this really straight four-to-the-floor techno beat. The combination is, what makes the track stand out in my opinion.

Electronic Groove: Did you use any special tricks or tips that you can share with fellow producers?

Felix Kröcher: In my opinion, the most important thing for every producer is to develop your own production formula! Obviously, there are a bunch of great tips & tricks out there, but you really have to find a way to make yourself unique. I also think that producers shouldn’t produce tracks in the sound of a certain label. It’s way more important to define your own sound first and then see which label could fit into that sound range.

Electronic Groove: Theres tons of positive energy within the track. Did you feel the need to produce a track like this?

Felix Kröcher: Definitely. The world was full of bad news in recent times, so I wanted to bring back all the positive vibes musically in this track. The piano riff is a perfect example, that symbolizes this idea! The last months have been tough for all the people in the industry. Hopefully, we all can experience this positivity again soon!

Electronic Groove: What has been the initial reaction from fellow artists and close friends?

Felix Kröcher: Great actually! We had some great feedback from some of my favorite artists & also the feedback from radio and press has been really good. In addition to that, I got a lot of messages from listeners that enjoyed the feel-good mood of the track! So I am really happy, people received the initial message of the track so well!

Electronic Groove: Who would you think would be great for a remix of ‘Passion’ and why?

Felix Kröcher: Actually I haven’t got any remixers planned for this one, but Michael Klein is currently remixing my next single 🙂

Electronic Groove: Now that summer is here, do you have any events lined up for the coming months?

Felix Kröcher: Absolutely! My schedule for August & September is actually pretty packed! I am so happy to finally be on tour again and I can’t wait to finally play out new music & connect with the people on the dancefloor again!

Electronic Groove: Do you have any other productions that we can get a sneak peek at?

Felix Kröcher: I am releasing my next single ‘Vision’ on August 27th! It’s more peak time techno track and Michael Klein is doing a remix of it 🙂 I am actually doing one release per month at the moment.

Electronic Groove:  Do you have any artist friends or colleagues that we should keep an eye out for?

Felix Kröcher: You should definitely check out Artche, Innellea and GNTN. These guys produce great music at the moment!

Electronic Groove: Lets get the imagination going, what is your dream location to play at? And what would be your rider for such an event?

Felix Kröcher: Burning Man Festival definitely would be on my bucket list. I’ve never been there but saw so many great sets recorded there. The atmosphere & vibes just look like something else I guess!

Electronic Groove: Do you practice any sports, any activities, or diet for wellbeing? Maybe you can share some ideas that can help others who are looking to improve and find balance.

Felix Kröcher: I’m someone who likes to spend a lot of time outside! I am always on the road with my bike, which just clears my mind! It’s so refreshing!

Electronic Groove: Thank you so much Felix and looking forward to seeing you on the dancefloor!

Felix Kröcher: Thanks again for the interview. I hope that as well 🙂 Take care, everyone!
