Tim Taylor’s ‘Do You Like…’ EP is now available via Hot Creations. To celebrate the release, he shares 10 of his favourite tracks.

1. Isaac Hayes – Hung Up On My Baby

“This is a song I have always loved for early mornings. I listen to a lot of instrumentals of records and this is perfect with it only having a short vocal near the end. The way everything fits together in this record really gives it a smooth and relaxing feel”.

2. Debbie Jacobs – Don’t You Want My Love?

“Probably one of the most iconic disco songs ever, such a groovy feel with really cool harmonies. It has one of my favourite bridges I’ve ever heard as well. Such a feel-good song for sunny days”.

3. Curtis Mayfield – Move On Up

“This is probably in my top 5 favourite songs of all time. Just such a feel-good song that never gets old. The drum solo into the chords and bass coming back in is just perfection. Curtis Mayfield has some incredible records and I would recommend them to a lot of people”.

4. Darius Syrossian, Hector Cuoto – House Is House

“This record holds a special place for me because it was the first track that really made me love house music. After hearing this, I just remember understanding the feeling of house music. Still to this day I love this track. The flow and vocal chops are so clean and just put out such a funky but driving vibe”.

5. Daft Punk – Da Funk

“Honestly, one of the coolest and most inspirational synth lines I’ve heard. So original for its time as well I still play it a lot even to this day. I feel like this, as well as a lot of their other records, really opened the door for a lot of producers to try this more sort of synth driven house music”.

6. Bwi Bwi – Insight

“This tune is just so smooth and danceable. I am a huge fan of retro feeling records and this hits the nail on the head for me. Really cool bass riffs and pockets in this record too. The quote from the vocal in the second half of this song is so perfect, it is a very true and deep message that just solidifies this record for me”.

7. Tyler, The Creator – Answer

“I am a huge fan of Tyler. It was hard to choose one out of the loads I like. This one is just so cool because I feel it really showcases his sound and aim’s musically. Instantly sounds good as soon as you begin to play it as well. His flows and overall message of this song are just so precise and wholesome. Perfect for the car”.

8. Jamie Jones – This Way

“I’ve been a huge fan of Jamie for years now and I knew I had to include at least one from him. This record is just so him, I love the use of the synth and the bassline to create cool drops and breakdowns. The vocals top this record off with the dark vibe, with the classic JJ drums over the top. Such a cool production style that I could listen to all day”.

9. Jonas Rathsman – Wolfsbane

“This record is just a production masterclass in my opinion. Such an amazing use of synths and arrangement. I have been playing it a lot over the last few years and still love it. I am a huge fan of dark sounding synths so this record is just perfect for me. The production level and clarity is just perfect on this record too”.

10. Room 5 – Make Luv

“Do I even need to say anything about this record? One of the best dance records of all time, such a pick up record that instantly gets everyone who hears it dancing. I have heard it live a couple of times too and I wish I could describe the feeling it gives off. Absolutely perfect and a firm favourite for sure”.
