589 organizations and venues have been awarded grants of almost £1 million.
Last week, it was announced that 1,385 arts organizations across England would receive £257 million to survive for the next six months as part of the government’s £1.57 billion culture recovery fund. Now, another 589 organizations have been awarded grants of under £1 million as an aid.
Again, most of the money went to fund London-based organizations. The total amount awarded this round was £76,654,621, with 199 recipients sharing just north of £27 million. Illustrious applicants include London’s NTS Radio, Boiler Room, The Jazz Cafe, Liverpool’s Camp & Furnace, and Leeds’ Cocoon In The Park, and Mint Festival.
Unfortunately, not every application was successful, with several established clubs, venues, and promoters, including Printworks, Studio 338, The Egg, Oval Space, and The Pickle Factory having been left out.
On another note, applications for Developing your Creative Practice (DYCP) are now open. The £10,000 grants are now available to DJs, performers/creators, arts and cultural educators, community practitioners/engagement specialists, movement directors, cultural conservators, creative enablers, and creative technicians.
According to the Arts Council website, applicants ‘only need to have had one years’ experience outside of a formal educational setting’. A total of £18 million will be granted over the next 12 months, with four rounds between October 2020 and October 2021. Applicants that do not receive funding on previous rounds can re-apply on a future opportunity.
