The song constitutes the seventh collaboration of ‘Song Machine’.
Since the beginning of 2020, Gorillaz has come together with an extensive list of collaborators from around the world and of different musical styles thanks to their ‘Song Machine’ project. After releasing music alongside slowthai, Slaves, Fatoumata Diawara, Schoolboy Q, Robert Smith, and the late Tony Allen, the group met with British icon Elton John.
The new song is called ‘The Pink Phantom’, and also features American rapper 6lack. The track will be included in the collaboration album that the band will release at the end of October. Also, they will be doing several global broadcasts in the month of December and tickets are now available here.
On the process to create ‘The Pink Phantom’, Elton John said: ‘Collaborating with Damon on this was a very engaging and creative process. I am very, very happy that this happened and I hope you enjoy the song’, Also, he admitted to being a huge fan of the virtual band.
