Legendary Italian composer Ennio Morricone has died at 91

He created the soundtrack of over 400 movies.

On July 6th, Ennio Morricone, composer of several of the most recognized soundtracks in film history, died in Italy at the age of 91. The musician was hospitalized in a Rome clinic after suffering a fall and breaking his leg, according to his lawyer.

In a statement, the artist’s family reported that Morricone died after saying goodbye to his wife María and dedicating ‘an exciting memory to his audience, whose loving support has always obtained the strength of his own creativity’.

Some of the soundtracks that brought him to fame were ‘The Hateful Eight’ and ‘Kill Bill’, by Quentin Tarantino, and ‘The Good, the Bad and the Ugly’. His sounds can be found in movies like ‘Once Upon a Time in America’, ‘The Mission’, and ‘Cinema Paradiso’. In addition, his career had already been recognized with an honorary Oscar in 2007.
