Henry Saiz: “I love to work under concepts because it allows me to focus and to develop an idea properly”

Henry Saiz is an electronic music artist who transcends trend and formula to create a musical language that can be difficult to describe, but simple to enjoy. Thanks to his talent, this Spanish DJ, producer, remixer, Natura Sonoris label owner and radio presenter and director for ‘El Laberinto’ On Radio3 is a great reference in the dance music scene.

We caught up with Henry Saiz to talk about his latest musical projects.

Electronic Groove: Hi Henry and welcome back to EG! How is the end of the 2019 looking? Where are you spending New Year’s Eve?

Henry Saiz:  Hello! This year I’m gonna take it easy and make a private party with my friends, it’s good to have a little break sometimes from all the touring.

Electronic Groove: Looking back at 2019, do you have any special moments, personally or professionally, that made an impact on you?

Henry Saiz: Tons of them, it’s been quite an intense year. Professionally I really enjoyed working on my trilogy of EP’s ‘Digital Mirages’ and starting my own event brand called ‘Mirage by Henry Saiz’.

Electronic Groove: You just released the third volume of ‘Digital Mirages’. Can you explain what’s the concept behind this trilogy?

Henry Saiz:  Well, basically I wanted to refresh my club style and come up with a style that keeps my essence but also adds unique influences to my techno and house sound. I love to work under concepts because it allows me to focus and to develop an idea properly, and the ‘Digital Mirages’ trilogy was a great frame for all of that. I talk about how nowadays the frontier of what is real and what’s not is getting more and more distorted and all the implications that come with that. With this music, I’m also trying to create psychedelic music experiences for the listener in a club or just to enjoy with your headphones on.

Electronic Groove: Natura Sonoris has been quite active. Can you share any new releases coming up?

Henry Saiz:  We have more releases from Digital Mirages coming – remixes and a whole compilation including the whole trilogy, we will make some physical copies as well. We have the album of R.I.P Bestia coming up, which is amazing, and a lot of new singles.

Electronic Groove: Are you happy with the course the label has taken? Would you change anything and if so, why?

Henry Saiz:  Of course, we’ve been loyal to our sound and quality, it’s great to have your own platform for more than 10 years already.

EG: This year you also rolled your own party, ‘Mirage’, what have been the results so far?

Henry Saiz: Amazing, we’ve done 2 editions so far, both of them in Buenos Aires with 2 sold-out parties, probably the highlights of the year for me. The plan now is to expand this to other territories and make several Mirage parties next year and to keep growing the brand.

EG: What have been the most important challenges to take ‘Mirage’ around the world?

Henry Saiz: I guess to make the promoters believe in the project on a scene that is ruled by money (like any other).

EG: Do you have any special plans or goals for 2020?

Henry Saiz: So many. We are working on a new Henry Saiz & Band album, which is sounding amazing so far. Also writing music for some pop artists I like, and a new mix, singles, remixes… hectic as always!

EG: Many thanks for your time and hope to see you again soon in Miami J

Henry Saiz: Thank you, can’t wait to go back to Miami!
