Get Physical continues to shine a light on exciting new artists from Croatia with a second EP in their ongoing series. The second offering has been compiled
once again by Get Physical’s Croatian mainstay Andrea Ljekaj who oversees this project.
First up it’s Pula based newcomer Time To Sl33p who kicks things off. With a background in hip hop, rock and indie, he has a widescreen sound that is melancholic and heavily influenced by ethnic percussion. ‘She Wasn’t One Of Us’ is a superbly seductive track with rich drums, gentle hits and toms sprinkled over the top and a warm, hypnotic sense of melody that is truly spiritual.
Tom Bug is head of the Dobar House label and club night, one of the most sought after DJs and producers from Croatia. He has amassed a fine discography on labels like Snatch! and here offers ‘Isolated’, a chunky house cut with cavernous drums that pull you deep inside. As they dance and skip about, lush chords are draped over the top to bring the sun and a soulful vocal sample swells your heart in timeless fashion.
Multi-award-winning producer and DJ Andrea Ljekaj has releases on Get Physical, Einmusika, Endangered and Selador, leading him to play gigs all over Europe and the Middle East. His sound is epic and tinged with euphoria, and here he remixes Insolate’s ‘Nada’ with real force. He flips the track into a tribal, driving kicker that straddles the house and techno divide, using flailing percussion to get hands in the air as the whirring synths amp up the energy levels.
This sterling release will be marked with a pair of events, the first is an EP premiere party on 3rd October at Club Pločnik in Zagreb. This will be followed
on the 5th October with a release party and season-opening event at Club Crkva in Rijeka.
