Cocorico declares bankruptcy and prepares to close its doors after 30 years

Electronic scene fans lament the closing of the legendary Italian club.

The well-known Italian club Cocoricò, opened in 1989 and located in Riccione, says goodbye to the public due to financial problems. This famous space, that started as a restaurant, welcomed artists such as Carl Cox, Richie Hawtin, Fatboy Slim and The Chemical Brothers, which made it become one of the most famous venues in Europe.

However, according to The Huffington Post, Cocoricò owes more than € 800,000 in unpaid taxes. His debts were exacerbated since the summer of 2015 when the venue was closed after the death of a 16-year-old boy who died in the place after consuming ecstasy. From there, its reputation and finances were affected.

The renowned club, famous among other things for its impressive pyramidal structure, was declared bankrupt on June 4th at the Rimini Tribunal.
