Atish returns to Damian Lazarus’ Rebellion imprint with his vibrant two-track EP, ‘Choli’.
Following his ‘Shola’ EP on the label earlier this year, the New York-based artist returns to the Crosstown Rebels sub-label with another round of captivating soundscapes, set to release on 15th November 2024.
A long-time music collector turned boundary-pushing DJ/producer, Atish has been carving out a name for himself with his artful blend of deep house, minimal, and emotive melodic house, gracing renowned labels such as Anjunadeep, Satya, and Stil Vor Talent. Having recently impressed with his two-track ‘Shola’ EP on the imprint back in April, the Manjumasi Music label co-founder now returns to Damian Lazarus’ Rebellion with his ‘Choli’ EP, where tradition meets innovation in sound.
“‘Choli’ is my contemporary take on one of the biggest (and most controversial) Bollywood songs of all time, ‘Choli Ke Peeche Kya Hai.’ The B-side, ‘Interrupt Request,’ falls on the other end of the sonic spectrum, offering a synthesized and heady sonic palette in contrast to ‘Choli’s organic feel. This EP sonically packages two different slices of my identity: a South Asian and a computer nerd.” – Atish.
‘Choli’ mesmerizes with rich percussion and a lush sonic palette, as Meetu Chilana’s powerful vocals and Deep Singh’s Indian percussion weave an enchanting tapestry. In contrast, ‘Interrupt Request’ delves into shadowy realms with its squelchy tones, ominous keys, and erratic beat programming, offering an off-kilter and cosmic dive into mystery and warped soundscapes.
