A new book chronicling Manchester’s iconic Haçienda nightclub is set to launch soon. This official publication showcases the venue’s revolutionary influence on music, fashion, and nightlife culture through striking images and insider accounts.
The Haçienda, open from May 21, 1982, to 1997, was a beacon of alternative culture. It nurtured emerging artists and became the epicenter of the dance music and acid-house revolution. Its influence continues to resonate today through globally celebrated Haçienda events, bridging generations of music lovers.
The book boasts an impressive lineup of contributors, including music legends Peter Hook, John Cooper Clarke, Bez, Noel Gallagher, and Mani, alongside influential DJs Todd Terry and Roger Sanchez. Their perspectives, combined with insights from staff and devoted clubbers, paint a vivid portrait of The Haçienda’s profound cultural impact.
FAC51 The Haçienda is celebrating the book’s release with a special launch event at New Century Hall on Wednesday, October 9th. The highlight is a roundtable discussion hosted by journalist Paul Flynn. A panel of Haçienda icons—including Peter Hook, Graeme Park, and Noel Gallagher—will discuss the club’s lasting impact on Manchester’s culture. After the discussion, attendees can purchase signed copies of the book, with curator Rebecca Hook also present for signings.
The event will culminate in a party featuring a list of its regular guests such as Peter Hook, Graeme Park, Jon Dasilva, and Hewan Clarke. Special appearances by Lady Bump and Michelle Kelly will evoke The Haçienda’s iconic fashion and atmosphere.
