Glastonbury Festival will take a break in 2026, confirmed by organizer Emily Eavis in The Sun. The hiatus will allow the land to rest after the 2025 event, with exciting plans for the next lineup already underway.
Held at Worthy Farm, the event takes breaks to let the land recover. The last break was in 2018, with additional pauses in 2020 and 2021 due to COVID-19. Eavis stressed the importance of these breaks on Nick Grimshaw and Annie Mac’s BBC Sidetracked podcast, noting they benefit both the land and the public.
Eavis also mentioned the personal benefits, saying the break allows everyone to switch off and return refreshed. She reflected on the festival’s history, noting her father, Sir Michael Eavis, nearly ended it in the 1990s but decided to continue after his wife’s passing in 1999, with Emily stepping in to help.
