Kamila Toll is an electronic artist with bona fide global reach. She was born in the Czech Republic, and she volleys between two of the biggest hotspots for dance music in the world: Ibiza and Amsterdam (she’s performed at Amsterdam Dance Event as well). The global reach extends even further when the internet comes into play. She’s shared a mix through Alataj, the collective based out of Florianópolis, Brazil.
She’s also a contributor to the mix series, Off Season, from Chicago’s own outfit Seasonal Frequency. Now her productions are catching up with her live presence as she’s shared music through Los Angeles’s Qwerk Records, Justin Jay’s Fantastic Voyage, and most recently she shared her new EP, Just Another Feeling, on Seattle’s Feral One Records. The title cut of this two-tracker starts with chunky breaks laid against intricate sound design as if a robot’s artificial heart has just kicked into gear. There are melodic sparks, and then the track builds as the circuits come to life. The reserved yet powerful synth triplets in the breakdown are like the first thoughts going through the robot’s newly-christened mind. Perhaps what’s happening is just another feeling? Or perhaps this feeling means something more.
