Dutch alternative-electronic solo artist Heijmat, the brainchild of acclaimed multi-platinum award-winning mixing engineer and producer Huub Reijnders, shares the new single ‘Where Will It Take Us’ (January 26th) taken from the upcoming EP Lost & Found (February 16th).

Having formed a career producing for the likes of Jack Parow, Kraak & Smaak, MEAU, Merol, and many other renowned artists, Heijmat has also built a feverish hype for his own music. Creating vibrant soundscapes of swelling analog synths and mesmerizing beats, Heijmat has gained widespread acclaim with placements across Spotify and Apple Music Editorials.

The new single ‘Where Will It Take Us’ is a prime example of his work – a tight four-to-the-floor beat, driving forward a euphoric electronic backdrop of analog synths, ethereal melodies, and pulsing sub-bass. Topped by the silky, smokey guest vocals of MRYN, the track is given a catchy central pin, offering a focal point for the expansive soundscape to dance around.

Talking about the single, Huub explains:
‘Where Will It Take Us’ We started with the desire to make a melancholic dance track. After hearing MRYN’s voice coming from one of the other rooms in my studio- complex, I decided to ask her to take on vocal duties. Her first draft was a perfect fit melodically, we worked on the lyrics and the rest of the melody together.

After a few changes in productional direction, I landed in this melancholic yet energetic sonic landscape that is ‘Where Will It Take Us.’

Talking about the EP as a whole, Heijmat explains:
Lost & Found is about reconnecting with the love of making music myself; I’ve been producing other artists for 20 years now, but the desire to make the music that is 100% my own has come back and in full swing. The title track came out in just one afternoon, after lingering in my thoughts for weeks. I felt I hadn’t touched on the slower, more soundcapy side of things enough, and just tried to keep It simple but with a clear storyline and an intense atmosphere.”

Born out of years of musical experience, studio engineering knowledge, and a deep love for electronic music, Heijmat emerged onto the scene in the summer of 2022. His debut track, ‘Reverberate’ caught the attention of Traum Schallplatten from Cologne, Extrawelt’s, and the early Max Cooper label, leading to its release on ‘Tour De Traum’ in December 2022. Following a successful start, Heijmat signed a deal with Pias/Integral in early 2023, paving the way for a steady stream of new releases.

Heijmat’s tracks have quickly gained recognition, earning placements on prestigious playlists such as Electronic Rising and New Music Friday. This exposure has cultivated a dedicated and growing fanbase worldwide, drawn to the artist’s ability to push the boundaries of electronic music, constantly evolving and reinventing his sound with each release.

Seamlessly weaving together elements of ambient, techno, and downtempo, Heijmat creates a sonic journey that treads the line between IDM with some commercial melodies. Drawing inspiration from a diverse range of musical influences, Heijmat’s artistic vision reflects a deep connection with the world around him. His tracks often explore themes of introspection and the human experience, inviting listeners to embark on a sonic exploration of their own emotions and surroundings.

As Heijmat continues to grow as an artist, his music captivates listeners both new and old.
