Liverpool, renowned as the UNESCO City of Music, is widely recognized for its vibrant musical legacy and is currently undergoing a cultural revival. To highlight the city’s past, present, and future, VisitLiverpool, the official tourism board, presents ‘Discover A New Beat,’ an engaging cultural project.
This initiative invites visitors to fully immerse themselves in the city’s dynamic music scene, exploring emerging trends, iconic venues, and hidden gems. Throughout the year, Liverpool hosts a multitude of music festivals that celebrate diverse cultures and genres.
Liverpool boasts a thriving underground electronic music scene. In the 1990s, venues like Cream and Voodoo made the city a sought-after destination for house and techno enthusiasts. Today, this rich musical heritage lives on through venues such as Meraki, 24 Kitchen Street, Invisible Wind Factory, Camp & Furnace, Blackstone St Warehouse, District, Hangar 34, Liverpool Philharmonic Hall, Future Yard, and more, shaping the city’s music scene for the next generation.
Also, as part of the project, they’ve got four of the best acts in the city; namely Lauren Lo Sung, Koj, Michael Aldag, and Red Rum Club to record a set in front of the city’s most iconic locations.
