EG.970 Angelos

“This is a mix with atmospheric tribal and deep house vibes, capturing influences from Morocco to Brazil and from Greece to South Africa. It promises a journey into a fusion of electronic, melodic, and earthy sounds” – Angelos

Enamored by a life immersed in music almost as quickly as he learned to walk, Greek-born Angelos’ (formerly known as DJ Angelo) career trajectory is a lesson in unrelenting passion, indomitable will, and single-minded pursuit of your dreams.

An early champion of South Africa’s vaunted Black Coffee, Angelos was instrumental in heralding the then-international newcomer across Greece and its islands for over a decade under the auspices of his widely respected touring entity, Global Fantasy; playing shows alongside Black Coffee as well as countless other industry luminaries such as &ME, Adam Port, Manoo, Franck Roger, Boddhi Satva, Hyenah, Osunlade and countless others.

Over the years, Angelos has cemented and maintained his presence at the forefront of a rapidly burgeoning, Africa-influenced electronic music movement that has ultimately conquered and continues to captivate dance floors across the globe with its soul-stirring emotive, unforgettable sounds.

On the music production front, what began as Angelos experimentally dabbling in edits and bootlegs has steadily grown into a noteworthy career celebrating standout releases on respected imprints, including Saved Records, Higher Ground, Nite Grooves, Ultra, Toolroom, Connected Frontline and King StreetSounds to name but a few.

Over the past couple of years, Angelos has risen to increasing prominence on the international DJ scene, remixing for the likes of Diplo and Da Mike – not to mention his powerful collaboration with Black Coffee featuring Jinadu included as the opening track of Black Coffee’s 2021 Grammy Award winning album ‘Subconsciously’.

More recently, Angelos returned to Connected Frontline, an imprint holding court at the cutting edge of the organic and Afro house scene, to helm their 100th milestone release. His hypnotic groove abstraction, ‘The System,’ distinguished by weighty drums and bold bass and underpinned by spellbinding spoken word and layered fat synth modulations, is distinctively Angelos – emotion laced, unassumingly potent, and ever outstanding.

It goes without saying that Angelos’ reputation as an impeccable DJ has been hard-earned through practice, persistence, and a sincere love of his craft. Equally at ease assuming taking the reigns of the peak time slot as Angelos is assuming the crucial, trusted role of one the industry’s most skilled openers speaks to the vast depth and breadth of Angelos’ technical skill, an ear astutely honed to subtlety, nuance and an innate capacity for restraint that resides calmly alongside the ability and desire to unleash the wild.
