With years of experience producing, writing, and releasing music together on various projects, Decades have reached a new level of musical synergy during their experimental all-night sessions in lockdown. Their distinct vocals, combined with rich chord progressions and festival-ready beats, create a sonic fusion that is bound to captivate listeners.
The duo is now thrilled to announce the release of their highly anticipated debut EP, ‘Get So High.’ This package offers emotionally charged dance music that seamlessly blends euphoric melancholy with soaring club tracks.

EG had the opportunity to sit down with Decades and delve into their latest release, ‘Get So High,’ as well as their upcoming live show in London and future projects. In this exclusive interview, we uncover the inspiration behind the EP, the creative process in the studio, and the excitement surrounding their journey in the music industry.
EG: Hi, guys! Welcome to EG. It’s a pleasure to have you here with us. How have you been? Where are you right now?
Decades: Hey! We’re currently sitting in our new studio in Hackney Wick, having a chat and drinking pumpkin-spiced lattes.
EG: Congratulations on the release of your debut EP, ‘Get So High’! You must be very excited to finally share this one. What has the initial reception been like? Do you remember the first time you played these songs live?
Decades: It feels surreal to finally put these songs out. We wrote them a while ago, but they are the first tracks that really solidified our sound. The first time we played them on stage was at eArth back in February, and hearing the tracks blasting over a sound system with strobe lights was better than we could have imagined. The crowd singing ‘Get So High’ back to us was a truly special moment.
EG: So, what can your fans expect to find on ‘Get So High’? Is there a concept or emotional trigger driving this EP? What’s your dynamic like in the studio?
Decades: We wrote a lot of these songs in the middle of a winter lockdown. You can hear our yearning for sunshine, festivals, and dancing with strangers. We have such great energy in the studio together, most of the time we’re making puns and laughing until we cry. It really feels different to write with other people, and our incredibly close friendship comes out in the music.
EG: Why did you guys decide to choose ‘Running Away’ as the centerpiece of the record? What does this track mean to you on a personal level?
Decades: ‘Running Away’ is one of our more emotional songs. It felt right to place it at the center of the EP because it’s such a powerful moment, especially with Anna’s powerful vocals at the end of the song. The lyrics tell a story about realizing that a relationship isn’t working, but there’s a sense of hopefulness in the music that feels uplifting and beautiful.

EG: The record also features two remixes, courtesy of Storm Mollison and Yesca. Why did you guys decide to tap them for remixes? What was it that made them the perfect fit for this particular project?
Decades: Storm is an incredibly talented and great friend of ours whom we work with closely, so it felt natural to get her on a remix. Yesca is our label buddy, and he brought such a different energy to the song which we loved. Yesca’s remix is really entrancing, and Storm went straight up 4×4 lo-fi vibes, making it perfect for the dancefloor.
EG: By the way, Storm Mollison and Yesca will be joining you on November 30th at The Pickle Factory. How are you feeling about this show? What can we expect on this date?
Decades: We’re so excited to celebrate the release of our EP with all our friends and family. It’s incredible to bring the record to life with an event, and the thing we do best is put on a great party. Pickle Factory is one of our favorite venues, and the intimate vibe is perfect for the night. Expect to dance, cry, and scream along to some bangers.
EG: Speaking about live dates… earlier this year, you supported Jungle, right? What was that experience like? How do you feel about these opportunities? Were you expecting all of this to happen so fast?
Decades: The Jungle show was a pivotal moment for us, as we wrote these songs with our live set in mind. It was crazy to have our first show in such a big venue and alongside people we look up to, like Salute. It was an amazing start to our live journey, and we can’t wait to do it all again on the 30th.
EG: More on live shows… What do you think about the current trend that has seen these larger-than-life visuals take center stage? Are they overwhelming the musical aspect instead of just “enhancing” the musical experience?
Decades: We’ve really enjoyed some of those visuals in the past – The Chemical Brothers live show springs to mind. We love an intimate show just as much, but you can’t beat some mind-blowing giant-scale holographic robots (especially if you’re tripping)
