Beloved singer, DJ, and classically trained dancer Aérea Negrot, whose real name was Danielle Gallegos, has passed away at the age of 43.

BPitch Control, the Berlin label closely associated with the artist, has confirmed the news of her passing. In an Instagram post, the label expressed their sadness over the loss of their cherished and talented artist. They praised her unique artistic approach, beautiful uplifting voice, and the profound impact she had on every soul she encountered.

Born in Caracas, Venezuela in 1980, Gallegos, who identified as transgender, was raised in a family of dancers. Her ballet career ended due to a knee injury, so she transitioned to the nightclub scene. She formed La Familia Felíz with Fata Kiefer and Milton Fermat, releasing ‘La Disco,’ a track that showcased her unique style of dance music.

Aérea Negrot made her debut at Amsterdam’s Central Station at 17 years old. She later attended the London Centre of Contemporary Music before joining Andy Butler’s Hercules & Love Affair project in 2008. Her powerful vocals were featured on four tracks of the critically acclaimed 2011 album, ‘Blue Songs.’ In Berlin, Gallegos became part of the nightlife scene and worked with Ellen Allien’s BPitch Control label. In 2011, she released her debut album, ‘Arabxilla,’ and collaborated with artists such as Massimiliano Pagliara, Tobias, and Billie Ray Martin.
