MJ Ross’s upcoming album, ‘Dystopiac’, is set to release on September 30th, 2023. In anticipation of the album release, MJ Ross shares some of his favorite productions.
1. Sky Drifter
“The inaugural single that ignited my journey. Fusing ambient electronic textures with compelling rhythmic undertones, it weaves two intertwined melodies into its composition. Takes you gently by the hand into a thought-provoking journey like no other.”
2. Synthetic Serenade
“Synthetic Serenade delves into the intriguing concepts of cyber attraction and the pursuit of a synthetic connection. Structurally, it unfolds as a musical dialogue, with the male’s serenade posing questions, met by the female’s response. My first song approaching EDM as a genre/style.”
3. Dystopiac
“Captivating sawtooth waves and mesmerizing bass drones? This composition transports me to the precipice of a breathtaking cliff, gazing upon a futuristic city aglow beneath the night sky, where dreams of what lies ahead take flight.”
4. Wasteland
“Technically speaking, this marks my first adventure into songwriting. At an impressive length of over 8 minutes, it’s evident my ambitions were running high. This track holds great sentimental value for me, serving as a powerful teacher in the realms of composition, harmony, and mixing.”
5. Sanctum
“The standout moments in this song, for me, are the guitar solos. Typically, I’d opt for a genuine electric guitar to play them, but this time I wanted to test the capabilities of my synthesizer. Achieving the perfect sound proved to be a bit time-consuming, but the end result was incredibly rewarding. This marks my first attempt at emulating a rock guitar solo through a keyboard, especially one with such a rapid tempo. It was amazing to create!”
6. The Awakening
“An extensive artistic composition, spanning over 8 minutes! Initially conceived as a soundtrack accompaniment, it evolved into an entity of its own. The music delves into the realms of the supernatural and the enigmatic concept of the resurrection… of something.”
7. Last Transmission
“‘Last Transmission’ is a sonic exploration of a world on the brink of chaos. Inspired by the idea of impending doom, I immersed myself in crafting a musical narrative that captured the frenetic energy and urgency of electronic transmissions in the face of an imminent end.”
